The Component API provides services for component and interface management. A plugin cannot interface with a WinGate host without first using the Component API to register itself with said that host. Once registered, it can receive events relating to components and the component framework and eventually register public interfaces that interact with other components in the system. It can also optionally register interfaces if it wishes to make available to other developers.
